Mary Ellen LeSieur Obituary
November 19, 1938 - August 22, 2017 Beloved and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Mary Ellen LeSieur, of Newport Beach, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of August 22, 2017, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She is survived by her husband, Jim; two sons, Mike and Steve, and their spouses Lisa and Michele; and five grandchildren, Finn, Emma, Maggie, James and Emilie. Daughter of Mel and Mary Keane and younger sister to Jim Keane, Mary Ellen was born in Los Angeles and grew up in nearby San Marino. She spent her childhood summers on Balboa Island and in Laguna, where she developed a lifelong love of the beach. Mary Ellen graduated from Ramona Convent Secondary School in Alhambra and received her bachelor's degree in Education from Oregon State University. Upon graduation, she worked for many happy years as an elementary school teacher in the Bay Area and then in Southern California. Mary Ellen married her husband, Jim LeSieur, in 1967, in Newport Beach. With the birth of her children, she dedicated herself to a life as a devoted homemaker and mother. A warm and generous spirit, Mary Ellen dearly loved her family and many friends, all of whom held a special place in her heart. She also enjoyed spending time at her home away from home in Sun Valley, Idaho, as well as reading and gardening. A celebration of Mary Ellen's life will be held at 10AM, Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at St. John Vianney Chapel, 314 Marine Avenue, Balboa Island. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Alzheimer's Orange County (www.alzoc.org).
