Max Wurzel Obituary
November 8, 1920 - March 17, 2016 Max spent his early life in Edenwald orphanage in New York City, then attended Delaware College of Science and Agriculture in Pennsylvania. He moved to Los Angeles in 1942 and joined the Merchant Marines during WW II. Max met his wife of 67 years, Mamie (Micky) at Canter Brothers Deli in Boyle Heights. Max retired as a supervisor from the Department of Water and Power after 27 years. In the 1950's, He started a lifetime of backpack travel exploring six continents of jungles and documenting his trips through the lens of a camera. In Africa he took many Safari adventures and climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro at the age of 65. Max loved his pets including dogs, cats, boa constrictor snakes and two anteaters. Max will be greatly missed by his family who loved him and his many friends whose lives he touched. Max will be in our hearts and remembered always. Max was predeceased by his beloved wife Mamie Wurzel. He is survived by his children, Marc (Doris) Wurzel and Brenda (Jack) Kuznitsky, and grandchildren Adrianna Wurzel and Kathryn Kuznitsky.
