Mildred Osame Ito Obituary
September 23, 1917 - October 28, 2016 Mildred Ito, age 99, passed away peacefully in her sleep the morning of October 28, 2016 at her home in Laguna Woods. She was born in Sacramento, California on September 23, 1917 to immigrant Japanese farmers in the Florin area. With the outbreak of WWII, Mildred and her family were forced to relocate to the Manzanar Internment Center near Bishop, California. After leaving Manzanar, she moved to Southern California and worked as a housekeeper until she married and moved to Long Beach with her husband Tom. She is survived by her daughters, Elaine Ito and Wendy Rayburn, her son-in-law, Tom Rayburn, her sister, Midori(June) Ito, and her nieces and nephews Susan, Terry, Bruce, Kirk, Phyllis, Wayne, and Clifford.. Mildred had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel and experience new things. Her favorite destinations were Hawaii and Las Vegas. She also enjoyed regular outings to Pala and Pechanga casinos. Besides her family, her favorite traveling companions were Brenda Sparks, Scott Matz, Gerry Baugh and Betty Lovato. Mildred loved animals and in the last few years of her life, she fostered cats through the Laguna Woods Cat Club(LWCC). At her request, no memorial service is planned.
