Millie Lieberman Obituary
June 19, 1923 - September 20, 2015 Millie Lieberman was born in Bayonne N.J., on June 19th, 1923. She grew up in Brooklyn and at age 12, the whole family jumped in her father's new taxi and drove across country, ending up in Boyle Heights. Millie attended Hollenbeck Junior High and graduated in 1940 from Roosevelt High school. She met the love of her life Harold (Jimmy) Lieberman, and husband of over 58 years at the Palaicos social club. After Jimmy's service in the South Pacific in WW2, Millie and Jimmie married on November 10th, 1945, and raised 3 children, June, Gerry, and, Stewart. They moved to the San Fernando valley in 1952, where they raised the family, attended Temple Beth Ami, were involved in the kids' activities from Girl and Boy Scouts, little league, and so many family activities. Millie began working at Rocketdyne in Canoga Park in 1958 in the typing pool. Over the years she worked her way up to become the 1st woman buyer, and was actively involved in the Space Program, from the early Mercury project, to theSpace Shuttle program of the 1980's. One of her proudest achievements was to be involved in the production of the prototype of the Space Shuttle engines! Millie loved cruising with Jimmy, dancing at the Tuesday dance club, and being President of the local chapter of her B'Nai B'rith. Most of all she loved to be surrounded by her family and good friends. The love of her life, Jimmy, passed away on November 17, 2003, and Millie moved to Thousand Oaks. Millie passed away peacefully on September 20, 2015, at Hillcrest Royale Retirement center. In addition to her 3 children, and spouses Ralph, Pam and Millie, she is also survived by her grandson David A. Miller, his wife Carmen, and their daughter Natalie, granddaughter Kim and her husband Sean Ayers, grandson Brian Lewis and his wife Michelle and their children Sara and Dan Ritchie, Isaac and his wife Kelsey Lewis and Brandon Lewis and Michael Lewis. Millie was also part of an extended family that included Mark, Renee, Sean and Emma Miller, David K. Miller, his wife Gillian and their children, Laura, Michael and Sarah. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and cousins. She will be greatly missed by so many, she was an awesome woman! Memorial and interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 12 noon.
