Milton Chortkoff Obituary
January 9, 1929 - December 28, 2017 Milton Chortkoff, a man whose heart knew no limits, passed away December 28 at the age of 88 in Burbank. Starting in the cleaning business at age 17 and still running the highly successful Milt & Edie's Drycleaners more than 70 years later, Milt was an icon in the cleaning industry, recently awarded the Diamond Achievement Award by the Drycleaning & Laundry Institute. Milt epitomized the spirit of generosity and was known throughout Burbank, Toluca Lake and North Hollywood for supporting the communities, the schools, the arts and pets. Living life with no regrets and a sharp sense of humor, Milt left a heartfelt impression on everyone he met with his robust desire to make our world a better and happier place. Filled with love and all that is good in the world, he will be a shining star in the heavens burning brightly forever. Milt is survived by his wife, Edythe, his brother, Burt Chortkoff (Wilma), his children, Beth Shader (Michael) and Ben Chortkoff (Susan), and his five grandsons, Zachary Shader (Liz), Charles Shader, Joseph Shader, Drew Chortkoff and David Chortkoff. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Petrone, earlier this year. The funeral is at Eden Memorial Park (11500 Sepulveda Blvd., Mission Hills, CA 91345) on Sunday, December 31, at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to City of Hope.
