November 29, 1920 - September 15, 2016 Morley Maurice Kiek, 95, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Born on November 29, 1920 in Winnipeg, Canada to Louis and Eva Wodlinger Kiek. Departed suddenly on September 15th in Encino, CA. Moved to Los Angeles in 1928, grew up in the West Adams District. Graduated L.A High School class of 1938. Enlisted on December 8th, 1941, the day after Pearl Harbor and served in the U.S. Navy through an honorable discharge on December 9th, 1945. Qualified marksman with active duty in the South Pacific, New Zealand, Solomon Islands, and then to the islands of Gavutu and Tulagi off the coast of Guadalcanal. He witnessed U.S. victory at the Battle of Coral Sea while waiting for Japanese landing with a rifle in hand. Morley married Doreen Corson in 1949. Post-war owner of several trucking companies based in Vernon, CA. Member of Westwood Shrine, 32nd Degree Master Mason of Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and an STO Member. He loved his family, sports, animals, a good western, good food, and life. A great and proud patriarch, he is and was loved by all who knew him. He lived by the golden rule and no one is known to ever have said anything bad of him. He was a true gentleman and a man's man. One of the last of the greatest generation. He is already missed by all, but he leaves behind an amazing legacy and life. We feel his absence already. He leaves behind his loving wife of 67 years, Doreen; children, John (Liz), Catherine, Robert (Gail), and Carolyn (Larry); four grandchildren; and a great-grandson. We miss you. Go Dodgers! Celebration of Life to be scheduled at a later date. Please contact [email protected] for further details.
