May 6, 1918 - May 26, 2016 Mort Silver was the subject of the original "Sonny Boy" song which was written by his very own father, David Edson Silverman and made famous by singer, Al Jolson. Mort was the adoring, loving husband of Esther Bergson Silver for 64 years and cherished father of Bette Rose Silver Garren and her husband, Ralph. He was predeceased by Esther and their beloved son, Marvin B. Silver. He is survived by his treasured grandchildren: Steven Garren, Mark (Lori) Garren, David Silver and Michelle Silver Beukema (Bas). Also, his daughter-in-law, Beverly Silver and his precious great-grandchildren, Shelby and Jacob Garren, Alaina and Adam Garren, Simon Beukema, survive him along with extended family members and special friends. Mort and Esther married on January 8, 1941. After moving to California, they raised Bette and Marvin and enjoyed a wonderful life. Mort honorably served during World War II. Graveside services will be held at Eden Memorial Park, 11500 Sepulveda Blvd., Mission Hills, California on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at 11:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the .
