Muriel Rosenberg Schoichet Obituary
May 1, 1925 - July 18, 2016 Muriel Rosenberg Schoichet, 91, passed away on Monday, July 18th, with her sister Judy Gottfried at her side. May her memory be for a blessing. Muri had an amazing life filled with friends, family, and causes. She was born in the Bronx in 1925 to Isidore and Frieda Rosenberg, part of a close-knit extended family. Living briefly in Phoenix, AZ during WWII, she worked for the USO. Back in NY, she worked for the American Jewish Federation and the American League for a Free Palestine. Muri met Nathan Schoichet at Highland Springs after moving to LA, and they married in 1952. After Nat's passing in 1973 Muri kept the spirit of his work for the ACLU and their shared involvement in politics alive. She worked for both the City and County of LA, and after retirement volunteered with the West Hollywood Senior Advisory Board among many communitarian activities. She is survived by her sons Sandor and Ellis Schoichet, their wives Linda and Lisa, and grandsons Nicholas and Nolan. Funeral services will be held at Hillside Memorial Park on Friday, July 22 at 10:00 am. Memorial contribution suggestions: West Coast Jewish Theatre, West Hollywood Democratic Club, or the American Jewish Congress.
