Nadine Jennie Acker Obituary
May 16, 1922 - February 1, 2017 Nadine Jennie Acker of Los Angeles passed away peacefully on February 1, 2017. She was born May 16, 1922 in Spokane, Washington to Louis Harry & Adelia Linea Phillips. The family moved to California and she graduated from Beverly Hills High School in1940. WWII interrupted her studies at UCLA when she joined the WAVES in 1943 and served over two years in Honolulu, HI. After resuming her studies, she received her BA and teaching credential in 1949. She then invested a few years teaching elementary school for LAUSD. On December 21, 1951, Nadine married George Mark Acker (founder of Aberdeen Company & Cable TV Supply Co.). They loved to travel. Nadine was active at Bel Air Presbyterian Church, serving in numerous ways; attending summer family camp was a highlight. She was generous with her time, also involved in numerous philanthropic causes including LARC Foundation, National Charity League, ARCS Foundation, and Freedom Foundation. Nadine loved her family and was incredibly devoted to them. George preceded her in death in 2002. She is survived by her brother, Jack L. Phillips; children, Paul (& Carol) Acker, Mary Acker, Robert (& Kathleen) Acker, Karen (& John) Husman and John (& Lisa) Acker; along with eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two on the way. A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 23rd at 12:00pm at Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to LARC Foundation (larcfoundation.org).
