Nancy Davis Nashu Obituary
July 2, 1932 - August 4, 2017 Nancy Davis Nashu, beloved daughter of Elizabeth & Elias Davis of Pasadena, was born in 1932 in Los Angeles, and raised in Pasadena, where she attended The Polytechnic School, then The Westridge School, prior to attending Mills College. Pursuing a fashion career, she moved to San Francisco, becoming a buyer at the Emporium. In 1960, she married Carson Embrey Boone and moved to Newport Beach to start a family. With the birth of sons Michael and David, Nancy split her time between Newport and San Marino, volunteering with the Mother's Club of Pasadena and at the Descanso Gardens. Upon the death of her first husband in 1972, Nancy taught herself to type and returned to work at Pacific Mutual Insurance Company in Newport. Two years later, she married John Malcolm Nashu, an executive with the Sutro Investment Bank. After five years in Newport, Nancy and John relocated to the Seattle area, where they lived happily until John's death in 1994. Nancy returned to Pasadena in 2008, to be near her twin, Sally Holbrook, son Michael, in Laguna Beach, and friends from school and the Valley Hunt Club. Nancy is survived by her sister Sally, her sons Michael and David, and her stepdaughter, Trilby. She was a gracious, determined and elegant woman, a dedicated wife and mother, and a generous, active participant in the life of her community, church, club and civic associations. A graveside service will be held at the San Gabriel Cemetery in San Gabriel, 11:00 A.M., August 17, followed by a reception at the Valley Hunt Club. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Mother's Club of Pasadena or Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.
