Patricia J. Laux Obituary
February 18, 1946 - June 4, 2016 Pat was a granddaughter of the late Dr. Lillie Rosa Minoka Hill, the 2nd Native American female doctor in the United States of America, and the only daughter of Josephine M. Cote (Jo Hill), all from the Oneida tribe of Indians of Wisconsin. Pat, 70, died peacefully with the love of her life Robert Laux and family by her side June 4, 2016 in Los Angeles, CA and chose cremation. She was born February 18, 1946 in Detroit, MI, the oldest of two children. She went to Grand Valley State University in Kalamazoo, MI and at age 50 she pursued her Master's in Psychology at Antioch University Marina del Rey, CA. Pat was a force to be reckoned with when she worked for the Native American Indian Center in downtown Los Angeles, CA--she also had her own practice. Her life's work as a therapist was teaching women and children how to empower themselves through education and how to triumph over adversity in spite of hardship. Her laugh was her endearing trademark and gift to us all. Pat was a feminist with righteous conviction who cared deeply about her family, friends and clients. It was befitting that she passed in a quiet hush on the same day as Muhammad Ali. After all, she was one of the greatest fighters I ever knew who was loved by all and will always be remembered. Happy 71st Birthday Mom!
