Patricia Pallette Whitney Obituary
April 20, 1931 - January 5, 2017 Patricia Pallette Whitney, 85, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017 in Rancho Mirage, California. Descended from Los Angeles' pioneers, Patty was born to parents Edward and Beulah Pallette in Los Angeles. Growing up in Hancock Park, she attended Marlborough School, in Los Angeles, and, later, Stanford University. During her summers and school breaks Patty could be found enjoying Balboa's beach life with her brother Edward (Bud), sister Antonia (Toni), and their many friends. Later, she shared her love of the beach with her three children (Libby, Chris, and Cath), by spending summers on Catalina and in Carmel. Later in life she enjoyed many Hawaiian holidays with family and friends. Returning to the Los Angeles area in the 1970s, she worked in a variety of medical settings, eventually joining UCLA's Jules Stein Eye Institute, where she met Lewis J. Whitney, her husband of 22 years. During their years of marriage they traveled extensively, and, upon Mr. Whitney's retirement, created a warm, rich life in Rancho Mirage, California enjoying the company of countless new and old friends. Patty is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Breen (John Corvi) and Catherine Breen (Gerald Svedlow), and son, Christopher Breen (Claire); her grandchildren Lauren Kotwal (James), Catherine Haring (Lonny Blumenthal), Anna Haring (Derek Cohen), Adelaide Breen, Kyle Svedlow, Alex Svedlow; great-grandchildren Grace and Henry Kotwal; and extended family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Planned Parenthood or the Fellow Earthlings' Wildlife Center.
