Patti Potter Obituary
October 23, 1938 - September 12, 2016 Los Angeles - Patti (Dupuis) Potter, lifelong Angeleno, died Monday, September 12, 2016 at San Joaquin Community Hospital in Bakersfield. Patti leaves behind her beloved husband of almost 51 years, Ed Potter; daughters Sabrina, Tiffany, Charity, and Cheyene; her 7 grandchildren; and many, many close friends. Born in Hollywood in 1938, Patti loved all things Los Angeles. As a child, she attended St. Brendan Catholic School in Los Angeles and St. Charles Borromeo in North Hollywood. She graduated from Bellarmine-Jefferson High School in Burbank in 1956 and attended Los Angeles Valley College that fall. It was there that she met her husband, Ed (then student body president), by interviewing him for their college newspaper. The rest, as they say, is history; the two were an item for 60 years this month. A young business woman from an early age, Patti worked as public relations director for Bullocks Downtown and Catalina Swimsuits. In 1962, she was a finalist for Young Tycoon of the Year for Mademoiselle Magazine. Then following many years as a homemaker, Patti used her unfathomable talents to transition back into the world of public relations through real estate in the 1970s, where she ultimately became a successful broker until the week before she passed. Her vast real estate career formed the framework for the second half of her life. She worked for many companies throughout the San Fernando Valley, including Jerry Berns Realty, Mike Glickman Realty, Re/Max on the Boulevard, and most recently, Rodeo Realty in Studio City. She always said that helping people brought her joy. And she spent her entire life dedicated to that principle. Chances are, if you knew Patti Potter, she'd helped you in one way or another whether you realized it then or sometime later. She simply had that way about her. Service will be held in Patti's honor on the 1st of October 2016 at St. Francis de Sales Church in Sherman Oaks, where Patti was a dedicated parishioner for several decades. Prayer service to begin at 10:00 a.m.
