Participating in ROTC, Peter received a reserve commission in the Army upon graduation from UCLA. He became a quartermaster officer, eventually receiving a regular Army commission, attended the Command and General Staff College and retired at the rank of full Colonel. Significant highlights of his military career include 1964 Alaska earthquake recovery operations, command of the 502d Supply and Transportation Battalion, Fort Hood, TX, and a tour of duty in the Vietnam War. During Peter's career, he and his wife Betty Sue raised three children while at duty stations in Bordeaux, France; San Leandro, CA; Fort Lee, VA; Fort Richardson, Alaska; Fort Hood, Texas; Stuttgart and Mannheim/Worms, Germany. For over twenty years Peter resided in the Brandermill Retirement Community, Midlothian, VA. He moved to the Presbyterian Home, Lexington, SC in 2015 to be closer to family. Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Alice Rose (MacKerness) Audé and Peter Nicholson Audé, Sr.; an infant son John Eric Audé and his sister Beverly Rose Ardin.
