Phil Levine Obituary
September 22, 1921 - March 2, 2017 Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Phil and his family came to Los Angles in 1924. After attending Gardner Street Elementary, Bancroft Junior High, and Hollywood High School, Phil earned his BS in Business Administration at USC in 1943. He married Shirley (who died in 2010) shortly after gradation. Following brief studies at Harvard University Business School while an officer in the U.S. Navy, Phil served in the Navy stateside and overseas until the end or WWII. Phil and brother Henry opened the Serenade Diner on Hollywood Blvd. in 1948 and then Lee Drug at Hollywood and Highland in 1950. As President of the Hollywood Merchants Association, Phil was instrumental in the creation of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Phil is survived by his son Alan (Judy) and daughter Susan (Ben), his grandchildren Josh (Rosey), Andrea (Steve), Shaun (Miguel) and Jay (Lindsey), great grandchildren Bradley, Alli, Jack and Lily, and loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Private services were held at Hillside Memorial Park on March 3, 2017.
