Ramy Hazim Elmeligy Obituary
January 24, 1987 - July 22, 2016 Ramy Hazim Elmeligy passed away July 22, 2016. Ramy was a pure, kind, humorous, and deeply loving soul. He was taken from this world prematurely, but his flame will continue to keep us warm and light up our lives for the rest of time. Ramy was born in Orlando, Florida, to Hazim Mahmoud Elmeligy, M.D. and Maha Amr-Elmeligy, M.D. At 5 months of age, they relocated to Los Angeles. Ramy was a brilliant child, learning to read at 3 years old, and attended Highly Gifted Magnets throughout the entirety of his schooling, from Balboa HGM Elementary to Portola HGM, to North Hollywood HGM. He excelled in all of these programs with top honors and flying colors. His primary joys in his young life were video-gaming, hip hop, making music, and spending time making his friends and family happy. But, in true form, Ramy was a curious man and even dabbled in theatre in his senior year of high school, where he gave us memories of a lifetime in his amazing rendition of Big Jule in "Guys and Dolls." A further testament to his academic brilliance, Ramy was a legend debater in the North Hollywood High School Speech and Debate Team, remembered for years following his tenure. Following high school, Ramy attended and graduated from Pomona College in the disciplines of Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. There, he also indulged in his passion for music as the percussionist and beat-boxer for the school's A Capella group, the Claremont Shades. Reaching an incredible milestone, Ramy graduated from Boalt Law School at the University of California, Berkeley. He completed his studies in December 2015, JD, obtaining high honor grades in all four subjects, with a Jurisprudence Award. His professor said Ramy was a very bright light and one of the most talented students she ever had. He was curious, engaged, kind, and thoughtful. On his graduation date, June 13, 2016, Ramy was elated to learn that his months of grueling study bore fruit, as he had passed the California Bar Exam on his first try. A beautiful affirmation, considering his brilliance. At the time of his death, Ramy was employed as an attorney at Waters Kraus & Paul in Los Angeles, CA. Many of his friends and coworkers were devastated by the news of his passing. Ramy is survived by his loving parents, his two beloved sisters, Nora Elmeligy and Lena Elmeligy, and his stepmom, Gina Campbell Elmeligy. He is our pride and joy, the light of our lives. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten. For anyone who wishes to join us in honoring his beautiful life, services will be held on: August 6th, 2:30 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills at the Old North Church.
