1931 - 2015 Obituary Condolences
July 19, 1931 - June 27, 2015 Ray Hampton, 83, passed away after a full life from heart disease and COPD. Ray was born in North Platte, NE to Dale and Bernice Hampton. Raised in Omaha with his brother Gene (1929-1984, Jan), Ray graduated from the Univ. of Nebraska in 1953. He served his country as a Captain in the Air Force from 1954-60, including 3 years in Evreux, France where he met and married his first wife, Phyllis (née Rosenberg, 1931-1983). They moved to Westminster, CA and raised their children Laurel (Will), Lisa (Bob) and Scott (Carolyn). In 1966, Ray earned his MBA from USC, and worked as a Vice-President at Security Pacific National Bank and later Bank of America. In 1986, he married Alice (née Evans) and the family grew to include her children Sean, Joyce (Ken), and Troy. Ray retired in 1992. He will be remembered for his handyman skills (he could build or fix anything) and fun family camping trips across the U.S. Ray was a proud and loving grandfather to Natalie, Lauren (Willie), Zachary, and Brooke, and great-grandfather to Willie, Jr. and Wesley. A memorial service with military honors will be held Tuesday July 28, 2015 at 11am at Riverside National Cemetery, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life luncheon at the March Field Air Museum Library as flying was his great passion.
