September 16, 1938 - June 20, 2016 Raymond J. Fortier was born on September 16, 1938 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the twelfth child of Herbert Fortier and Norma Russelle. His siblings included four sisters and seven brothers. He graduated from Xavier Prep High School in 1958. Raymond enlisted in the United States Army and received a honorable discharge. He moved to Detroit Michigan and worked for General Motors. He came to California in 1975. He met and married his devoted wife Velma Smith on April 9, 1982. He was a Quality Assurance Inspector for the United States Government at Hughes for the Space Program. He joined Angel City Lodge No. 18 F. & A.M. in 1982, where he became Worshipful Master in 1987. His Masonic career is as follows: Illustrious Commander-In-Chief of Los Angeles Consistory A.A.S.R. 1991; Honorary Grand Inspector General 33o1991; Noble of the Mystic Shrine, Egyptian Temple No. 5 A.E.A.O.M.N.S.; Holy Royal Arch Mason, B.F. Talbot No. 12 H.R.A.M.; Grand Worthy Joshua, Prince Hall Grand High Court of the State of California P.H.R.A., 2001-2003; Worthy Patron, Deborah No. 13, Order of the Eastern Star P.H.R.A., 2005. Surviving Raymond, is his wife, Velma S. Fortier, children, Kevin H. Steverson, Camille A. Steverson, Terry Franklin, grandchildren, Christian Steverson, Jasmine Steverson, Howard Steverson, Katrell Steverson and a host of beloved family and Faithful friends.
