Reba Tillery Roebuck Obituary
November 29, 1912 - January 24, 2017 Reba started life in rural Alabama. There she developed a love of learning and found a desire to share knowledge through teaching. She met the love of her life, married, had two children, and moved with her family to California in 1946. She continued her own scholastic advancement and her teaching in Los Angeles, a focus that eventually took her from her own classroom to demonstrating programming to teachers in their classes for advanced placement in science education. The next challenge in her career was pioneering teaching science on television as it was first becoming available to the classrooms of the LAUSD. Her programs featured many of the greatest scientists of our time. She continued her love of teaching science after her retirement by becoming very active in the California Retired Teachers Association, and a leading member of the Muses, the support auxiliary for the California Science Center Foundation. Her excellence in school activities was matched by her love and care for her family, and her involvement and leadership at her church and other community organizations. As best teaching is always applied, she lived by example, always having kind words and appreciation of others, and never deviating from her highest personal standards. She touched many lives and has been continually rewarded by the communication from long established relationships. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren are so grateful for our days of sharing with her and always holding her in our hearts.
