René Edward Laurençot Obituary
January 13, 1925 - November 6, 2017 René Laurençot, beloved husband, father, grandfather, pilot and retired engineer, passed away peacefully at his home in La Cañada Flintridge. Born in Brooklyn on January 13, 1925, he was the oldest of five children. He went to Brooklyn Preparatory High School before attending Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering and a master's in structural analysis. He was a member of several professional societies, including the New York State Society of Professional Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Concrete Institute. In 1945, René was inducted into military service and served in Korea until 1948. He was honorably discharged at the rank of first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and was a member of the active reserve until 1951. In the 1950s, René and his wife Judy (née O'Brien, deceased 2010) moved to Los Angeles where he worked for over four decades for Lockheed Martin. The couple had six children and moved to La Cañada Flintridge in 1964. They were active members of St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church and their children attended the parish school. In retirement, René and Judy traveled to Russia and took several destination cruises. He is survived by his six children: Nadine, André, Michelle, Colette, René and Denise, along with grandchildren Hana, Delavan and René. René is remembered for being a loving, dedicated father and grandfather with a strong work ethic, devotion to the Catholic faith, an affable wit and great sense of humor.
