Richard Edward Pearson Obituary
May 14, 1930 - August 18, 2016 Born in New York City and raised in Ocean Grove, NJ. He and his mother came to Santa Monica by train when he was a teenager. He remained a resident of Santa Monica for the rest of his life. He graduated from Santa Monica High School, Santa Monica College, and USC. He loved spending time at the beach and worked as a lifeguard in Santa Monica and at the old Del Mar Club. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a teacher then transitioned into sales at Blue Shield of California. He retired as an Assistant Vice President after a 35-year career. As a young man, he enjoyed playing basketball and volleyball and had been a caddy at Riviera Country Club. He loved watching sports, especially USC teams and the Lakers. He and his wife Linda were members of Wilshire Country Club where they played weekly games and celebrated many holidays. He enjoyed annual trips to Hawaii with frequent visits to the Outrigger Canoe Club as well as trips to the Bahamas, Aruba, Curacao, London, Paris, Napa Valley, San Francisco and Indian Wells. He loved spending time at his home in Big Pine. He was very generous with all who knew him as well as to those less fortunate, especially the homeless. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and his dog, Scout/Fred. He is survived by his wife Linda Stewart Pearson, daughter Cynthia Pearson and granddaughter Sabrina Benun. He passed away peacefully at home following complications of a stroke. WE LOVE AND MISS YOU PAPA!
