Richard "Eppie" Epstein Obituary
October 6, 1945 - April 10, 2017 "If you're not having fun, you're doing something else!" Richard "Eppie" Epstein passed away peacefully at his Encino home on Monday at the age of 71. Born to Victor and Ruth Epstein, Richard was raised in New York City with his older brother, Gerald. He briefly attended the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut before proudly serving in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He moved to California after completing his service in 1967. Founder and President of Cruiseland USA for nearly 30 years, Eppie was well-known and loved by cruise industry colleagues, loyal clients, and the many friends and family he helped to share his passion for cruising and fun. Eppie is survived by his wife Carole Frederick, daughter Lisa (David), stepchildren Lindsey (Brian) and Brian, grandchildren Corinne, Mia and Dylan, loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and fun-loving friend to all. Services will be at noon, Thursday, April 13, at Hillside Memorial Park. Memorial donations can be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at pancan.org.
