Richard Heath Mitchell Obituary
May 16, 1936 - January 9, 2018 Dick Mitchell passed away in Los Angeles January 9, 2018. Born in Boston, he grew up in Watertown, Massachusetts with his parents and siblings, Lucille and Paul. After graduation, he served in the Army in Boussac, France, as a train engineer at the supply depot. Following his discharge, he worked for Pan Am in Boston before moving to California where he began his career in scheduling with Western Air Lines and settled in Hermosa Beach. Delta bought Western and created a Line Operations Manager position where he remained until retirement in 2001. Dick was given the title of honorary pilot. Dick served in contract negotiations for Western and on the Board for Pioneers Delta retirees. He met and married Carol Edwards in March of 1991. Carol's daughter's Katherine and Michele were instantly a major part of his life. He was a loyal fan of Boston Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins. Alzheimer's diagnosed in 2007 progressed slowly until 2017. Dick is survived by his wife, Carol and daughters Katherine Curto and Michele Edwards, Amber Elliott (Marcus), Siah and Micah; nephew, Lance Beloungie (Nancy), Erica Noyes (Chuck) and Michele Marabella (Todd), nieces Luanne Monahan (Jack), Erin and Johnny, Laurel Everett and daughters Kristen Everett and Kelly (Trevor) McLean. The Memorial Service will be held at Bel Air Presbyterian Church, 16221 Mulholland Drive, Los Angeles, CA 9049, 10:30 am, February 3, 2019 with a reception to follow in the Discipleship Center.
