Richard "Dick" Weaver Obituary
April 29, 1923 - February 13, 2016 Age 92, died peacefully at home Saturday, February 13, 2016 with his loving family at his side. Dick was born on April 29, 1923 in Morgantown, West Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Louise Forsleff; daughters, Christina Gale (Michael) Pullen and Heather Ann Weaver; granddaughters, Catrina Calla (Mark) Preijers and Diana Paige Pullen; great-granddaughters, Jayme and Elizabeth Preijers; step-children, Mary Anne and John (Marda) Chahbazi. Dick was a World War II veteran, in the U.S. Army, 99th Division and was awarded the Bronze Star for his bravery during the Battle of the Bulge. He received his B.A. from the University of Texas and his Master's Degree from USC. He served on the L.A. County Regional Planning Commission and in the cities of Long Beach, Baldwin Park, and Santa Fe Springs. Dick was proudest of his work as the City Planning Director of Santa Fe Springs, which enabled him to take part in the conversion of oil fields to sites for corporate headquarters with street set-backs for landscaping and sculptures. He maintained life-long affiliations with the American Planning Association, the California Planning Foundation and the International Federation for Housing and Planning and Rotary International. Family, friends and travel were his greatest joys. He will be remembered for his, gentle and generous nature, caring values and sense of humor. He was a gentleman who made a difference. A memorial service will be held at The Clarke Estate in Santa Fe Springs on April 30th at 2:30pm.
