Richard Wren Meltzer Obituary
April 25, 1932 - April 23, 2016 Richard Wren Meltzer (lovingly known to many as Uncle Dick) died peacefully on April 23rd, 2016 at the Veteran's Administration Nursing Home in Los Angeles, CA. Predeceased by his father, Dr. Maurice Meltzer, mother Patricia Miller and brother John Hewitt Meltzer, Dick was born in Manhattan, NY.  Richard leaves behind his niece Sarah, great niece Marina (Montréal), niece Caroline (Hunter) and great niece Maggie (Los Angeles) as well as friends, old and new, in Arizona, Montreal, New York, and Los Angeles.   A veteran of the Korean War, he was a proud member of the Air Force and a devoted member of the 7th Regiment. Richard spent the last several years of his life in Los Angeles to be closer to his family and enjoy the good weather. He lived at the VA Nursing Home in his final years, where he enjoyed outings, bingo games and the kindness and care of the wonderful staff and generous volunteers.  Richard was a kind and gentle soul who will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace, Uncle Dick. A service will be held at the Sepulveda VA Nursing Home courtyard on May 10th, 2016 at 12:30 PM at 16111 Plummer St., Bldg. 99, North Hills, CA 91341.
