February 16, 1925 - October 11, 2016 The Dodgers lost a loyal fan on October 11, 2016. Rita Ford was born on February 16, 1925 and grew up in Tiskilwa, Illinois in Cubs territory. She received her Registered Nursing Degree from St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Illinois. Rita's compassion and hard work ethic made her the perfect nurse. In 1949 Rita moved to Los Angeles. She fell in love with David J. Ford, who preceded her in death in 1996. The 50's were a big decade for Rita giving birth to 3 daughters, Ruann (Michael) McGuinness, Joni (Manuel) Jimenez and Christie (Ric) Wise. Also in the late 50's her favorite baseball team arrived in Los Angeles and her love for Dodger baseball was born. Rita would eventually enjoy and inspire 8 grandchildren Shaun (Amber) Jimenez, Christopher (Kerry) McGuinness, Carly (Max) Fish, Aaron (Cheryl) McGuinness, Katie (Ryan) Wiemann, Jeremy (Emily) Wise, Nathan Wise and Sean McGuinness, as well as 6 great grandchildren. Rita will be remembered for her love of family, sports, stitchery, stained glass, Jeopardy, and listening to Vin Scully on her transistor radio. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday, October 21 at Cabot & Sons. Funeral Mass followed by a reception in the church hall will take place at 11:00 am at Assumption of the B.V.M., 2640 E. Orange Grove Blvd in Pasadena. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the .
