July 3, 1926 - January 19, 2018 Robert Bruce Longway (Bob) was born to Robert and Mary Longway on July 3, 1926 in Los Angeles, CA. He passed peacefully with his family at his side on January 19, 2018 at his home in Murrieta CA. at the age of 91. Bob met the blessing of his life Connie Hall and the two were married on August 1, 1987 in Hacienda Heights, CA. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and the mother of his children, his ex-wife Glenda Oglesby (2012). He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years Connie Longway of Murrieta, CA his daughters Robin Collier of Seal Beach, CA and Shannan Longway of South Riding, VA and son Mark Longway (Carla) of Norco, CA step-daughters Denise Correa (Jose) of Helendale, CA, Lisa Rietz of Laguna Niguel, CA, step-sons Donny Hall Jr (Margaret) of Chino, CA and Ron Hall (Lynese) of Lake Elsinore, CA, his sister LaVera Trabucco of Wildomar, CA and brother Maynard Longway of Copperas Cove, TX. Bob also had a tremendous amount of love for his 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Bob's life was full and amazing. At 17 Bob served in the US Navy Armed Guard during WWII, he was on five different ships that were sunk during this time and was lucky enough to have survived each one. After the war Bob attended Stanford University on the GI Bill from 1947-1951 Graduating with a degree in Economics. While at Stanford University he married Glenda Oglesby in the Stanford Church in Palo Alto in 1950. Bob worked as Head Inspector for the Los Angeles County Flood Control and later started his own company Robert B. Longway, Inc. as President and Chief Estimator. He had been an Underground Concrete Structure Contractor specializing in concrete structures on storm drains and sewers for 49 years, he retired at the age of 90. Bob joined the ECA (Engineering Contractor Association) and was part of the Board of Directors and later became their President in 1986 for two years. Bob received their Lifetime Award (Dig Award) for Dignity, Integrity and Generosity. Bob and Connie loved to travel the world together, go dancing, Boccee ball and putting puzzles together. His other hobbies included stamp & coin collecting, gardening, bird watching, fishing and golfing with his best friend Don Hall. Bob's favorite color was blue, that included his clothes, cars, furniture and carpet, that's how he was given the nickname "Blue boy" Bob will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all that knew him. Services for Bob will be held as follows and you are all welcome to wear blue.
