Robert D. Field Obituary
June 11, 1928 - January 4, 2017 Sculptor, mountain climber, sailor, bridge player, teacher, cancer survivor, world traveler, World War II navy veteran, husband, brother, father, and grandfather. Born in Chicago, a life-long lover of art, Robert received his Master of Arts Degree in Art Education from the Institute of Design in Chicago. A high school art teacher in New Mexico and California before he began his career with the Internal Revenue Service, Robert retired in 1988. Robert and his wife, Marie, loved nature and together were avid hikers and mountain climbers. Robert suffered a near-fatal heart attack on a mountaintop in 1990 and for the next 27 years taught us how to live a second life. In retirement, he and Marie traveled the world, and Robert revived his passion for art, creating beautiful sculpture that spoke to his passion for social justice. Robert is survived by his wife, Marie, his two daughters, Robin and Amy, his granddaughter, Emma Overly, his two son-in-laws, Michael Overly and Mitchell Albert, and his brother and sister-in-law Larry and Ruth Field. In his honor, take a hike, visit a museum, hold your family close.
