IN LOVING MEMORY OF ROBERT (BOB) DALE WRIGHT Born: August 10, 1935, in Omaha, Nebraska. Passed: December 25, 2016, at his home, in Romoland, California, with trusted friend and confidant of 37 years, Charlene Larson, and his son by his side. Bob graduated from John Burroughs High School in Burbank, CA. He also attended Van Nuys High School for his sheet metal apprenticeship training course, the International Tabulating Institute, UCLA, and Palomar Community College. Bob was a member of American Mensa. In his 20's, Bob was a sheet metal mechanic and foreman, doing fabrication and installation of heating and A/C at LA Valley College. In the 1960's, Bob became a first generation computer programmer/analyst, working at NCR Corp. He also worked on the team that developed the programming to make bold writing for dot matrix printers, (what we all now know as bold print). Bob's passion was cars and racing. He participated in both stock car and drag racing for years, all over southern CA, including San Fernando, Saugus and Bakersfield Speedways, as well as Irwindale. Bob built his first dragster in his garage, doing his own fabrication, and raced off and on the rest of his life. In 2009, at the age of 74, Bob took first place in both Quickest ET Super Street and Best Reaction Time at Qualcom Stadium in San Diego, CA. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Laverne and June Wright, and his brother, Kurt Wright. He is survived by his six children, Susan Buchner (Steve), Donna Sobiech (Greg), Kathy Fagundez, Steven Wright (Jade), Gerald Wright (Diedre), and Pamela Spearman (Tim); two step-children, Vincent and Penny; thirteen grandchildren, Teanna Buchner, Tara Wessel Swoboda (Tom), AJ Buchner, James Wessel (Corinne), Scott Wessel, Alex Fagundez, Taylor Wright, Eve Wright, Jenny Spearman, Lindsey Spearman, Tony Wright, Belinda Wright, and Sophia Wright; and one great-granddaughter, Nicolette Swoboda. Bob is also survived by Charlie Larson...a family member in his heart and ours; she has been our angel. Bob's ashes will be disbursed in the Pacific Ocean in a private service.
