Robert Floyd Megredy Obituary
October 27, 1931 - September 5, 2015 Robert (Bob) Floyd Megredy, 83, passed away at UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica. Bob was born near Longton, Kansas, to Floyd T. and Hazel V. (Millard) Megredy. He graduated from Longton High School, attended college at Emporia State University, and received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Kansas. Bob was an ROTC student and served as an Officer in the US Air Force, stationed in Hawaii and Eniwetok Atoll. He completed his internship at UCLA where he went on to serve in a 54-year career as a Pharmacist, retiring in 1987 (and again in 2005 and 2009). Bob lived in LA most of his life and enjoyed a second home in Pinyon Crest near Palm Desert where family and friends visited. He was a favorite uncle to ten nieces and nephews and their children. He encouraged education, and had set up a scholarship fund at Longton High School in memory of his parents. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Margaret Sloan (Phillip) and Virginia L. Kingsbury; and one brother, Richard A. Megredy (MaryJo); Bob is survived by one sister, Trudy F. Webster (Donovan), of Twin Falls, Idaho. Bob was dearly loved by family and friends near and far, and he will be greatly missed. He loved this quote by William Butler Yeats: "Think where man's glory most begins and ends, and I say my glory was I had such friends."
