Robert Lee Harris Obituary
May 26, 1922 - May 26, 2016 Robert Lee Harris, 94, died on his birthday in Alhambra on May 26, 2016 in Alhambra, California after battling with Parkinson's and Dementia. He was born on May 26, 1922 in Red Oak, Iowa to Pearl and Doris Harris. His family moved to Pasadena when he was 3 years old and they shared time between 2 homes in Pasadena and Malibu. Bob later lived in Malibu, graduated from Santa Monica High School and then went to college at PCC and graduated from USC. He served in the military and was in World War II, wounded at Battle of the Bulge and awarded the Purple Heart. Bob became a teacher at El Sereno Elementary School, worked for the LAUSD in administration and also as the Director of Library Media. While working for LAUSD Bob met the "love of his life" Doris, who passed in 2010; they were married 40 wonderful years. They had one daughter, Leslie, who died in 1996. They lived in Cheviot Hills where they loved to entertain friends and family. Bob and Doris had a relationship that many dreamed of, they loved the beach, house boating at Lake Shasta, their Palm Springs home, Hawaii, camping, the theatre and also gambling in Las Vegas. Bob loved to fish, garden, read and spend time with friends and family. He had a great sense of humor and was a pleasure to be around. Bob is survived by 2 grandchildren, Nicole and Jean Paul (Janeth) Coté; 2 great-grandchildren Jeremiah and Joy; nieces and nephews Julie, GiGi, Tommy, Dynese, Eric, Ryan, Natalie, and Jeremy. The service will be held on June 3rd at 1pm at Pierce Brothers Turner and Stevens Mortuary, 1136 E. Las Tunas Dr., San Gabriel. In lieu of flowers, please either make donations to the Doris Harris Scholarship Fund at Mount Saint Mary's or go enjoy a night out.
