March 3, 1926 - May 7, 2016 Robert Nelson Wilson passed away peacefully in Pasadena, California on Saturday, May 7, 2016 of natural causes at the age of 90. Bob was born March 3, 1926 in La Plata, Missouri to Lorran and Hallie (Payne) Wilson. He had 5 brothers and 6 sisters. As a child, his family relocated to Streator, Illinois by the Santa Fe Railroad, in which his father was a foreman. When Bob was 13 years old, his mother died in a car accident. At the age of 18, he joined the Army Air Corp and was a tail gunner for the B29 air craft during World War II. In 1946, after being honorably discharged, he came to California to visit family friends. They informed him there was a new college opening. This is how he became a student in the first class of Claremont Men's College (now called Claremont McKenna College). After college, Bob stayed in California and joined the Los Angeles Superior Court Clerk's Office. He worked there for 11 years. In 1961, he started working for the Court of Appeal as the deputy clerk, and in 1987 he was appointed the clerk of the court. He retired at the age of 66. While working for L.A. Superior court, Bob met his wife, Marie Gomoll. They were married in 1951, and recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. They have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. Robert volunteered for years for the YMCA in their capital campaign. He was also very active for decades in the California State Employees Association. Bob was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters and is survived by his wife Marie, his children Colleen Newcomb, Brian Wilson and Paula Santillo, and six grandchildren. He is also survived by his Sister Beverly Harcharik (Streator,Illinois) and his brother Jack Wilson (Red Lion, Pennsylvania) and numerous nieces and nephews. Services are as follows: Calvary Mortuary 4201 Whittier Blvd in Los Angeles, 90023. Monday, 5/16 Viewing at 5:30pm, followed by the rosary at 6:30pm. Tuesday, 5/17 the funeral mass at 11:00am with the burial immediately following. Bob Wilson always had a smile on his face and was well known for his good natured temperament and gentle disposition. He was a true gentleman and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
