Robert Nelson Wiviott Obituary
May 4, 1936 - January 14, 2017 Robert Nelson Wiviott, willful warrior who fought back the inevitable for months on end in his attempt to be with his loved ones one more day, died peacefully at home Saturday morning January 14, 2017. A husband, father, grandfather and friend to all, "Papa Bob" was a man of strength and integrity. Never one to rest on his past successes and always looking to take on life and all of its offerings, Papa Bob will be best remembered for his passion for family, philanthropy, business (Bob Wiviott is the definition of Serial Entrepreneur) and travel, often piloting he and his family on their adventures. His unrivaled fortitude was on full display in March of 2016 where he was determined to keep his scheduled appointment for his flight re-certification. Come hell or high-water he was determined to continue being his own pilot. He fought through treatment and pain, and at the young age of 79 passed his pilot's license recertification course. Of all his numerous accomplishments, this is the one he was most proud. This event speaks volumes of our Papa Bob's grit and determination (aka stubbornness), and passes on a life lesson to those around him to set your goals, achieve them and believe anything is possible. By far, though, his crowning achievement was the love he shared with his family. Born in Milwaukee, a Midwesterner at heart, Bob picked up and moved to Los Angeles after he lost control of his heart to Sharon Cohen Wiviott, his wife of 59 years. Together they shared an exciting life, along with their children, Greg, Fran and Ernie, and Jay and Teresa, 11 grandchildren, Taryn and her husband Adam, Erika, Annabelle, Adam, Jacob, Leo, Max, Mollie, Simon, and Lilli and their 4 legged bundle of joy, Coco Chanel. He is survived by his brother Howard Wiviott (wife Joanne), Gail Spitzer (husband Jerry) and numerous loving nieces and nephews. His life's lessons, engrained in all those whose lives he touched, will continue on through us all and will be shared for generations to come. Papa Bob will be forever missed and will remain in our hearts and minds for an eternity. The family wants to say a special thank you to Arcelita Pererya who cared for him deeply and the loving care-givers, Greggie and Ren, who helped make the final chapter of his life as comfortable as possible. A memorial service will be held at Hillside Memorial Park, 6001 W. Centinela Ave, Los Angeles Tuesday January 17 at 1:00pm. The family thanks you for any donation made in honor of Robert Wiviott. The family prefers donations be sent to Stop Cancer, 2566 Overland Ave Suite 790, Los Angeles 90064 or Tower Hematology Oncology, 9090 Wilshire Blvd #200, Beverly Hills 90211.
