Robert W. Rubin Obituary
December 1, 1954 - June 1, 2015 Respected entertainment executive Robert W. Rubin passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 1, 2015, of glioblastoma brain cancer. Bob had a long tenure at NBC/Universal, where he started in 1987 as an attorney in the Universal Motion Picture Group, and ultimately became Executive Vice President of Universal Worldwide Entertainment. After Universal, Bob became Executive Vice President of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. In 2011, he founded Hollywood2Go, a series of live seminars providing insight into the behind-the-scenes workings of Hollywood production. Bob also was Vice Chairman of the Board of the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film in Rochester, New York, where he played an important role in film preservation. Born December 1, 1954, in Yonkers, New York, Bob earned his BA at the University of Rochester and went on to receive his law degree at the University of Southern California. Bob resided in Studio City, California, with his wife, Melissa Blessing Rubin, and son, Charles Rubin. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 8, 2015, at the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills, 300 S. Doheny Dr., Los Angeles, CA 90048, at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to Bob's treasured spiritual organization, Royal Way, 11801 W. Pico Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90064, or to the Bob Rubin Family Fund, 16633 Ventura Blvd., Suite 500, Encino, CA 91436, dedicated to the continued education of Charles Rubin.
