Roger Bruce Peterson Obituary
March 18, 1933 - September 28, 2016 Roger Bruce Peterson, 83, of Troy, Michigan, passed suddenly Sept. 28. Roger was born in Hollywood during the aftershocks of the Long Beach Earthquake to Roger Carl Peterson and Julia Charlotte (Evans) Peterson. He found his lifelong profession early, working in construction for contractor John Brown, a beloved friend to the entire Peterson family. Roger, known as "Bruce" for the first half of his life, enlisted in the Army during the Korean War. He then married and had four children: Nina, Dawn, Lori, and John. After working in the studios and for other contractors, Roger founded his own commercial contracting business in Glendale, R.B. Peterson, Inc., installing a state-of-the-art broadcast studio at Santa Anita Park and extensively renovating Good Samaritan Hospital. Roger retired to St. Simons Island, GA, and eventually moved to Michigan near his daughters. Known for his good cheer and hearty laugh, Roger traveled the world, cherishing every experience. He leaves behind his children, eight grandchildren, his cousin Richard (Betty) Peters, his beloved Laura, and many dear friends. A memorial Mass will be said October 8 at 10 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Troy. He will be privately interred the following week at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI. In lieu of flowers, please donate to: Food for the Poor. A.J. Desmond & Sons, 248-362-2500. www.desmondfuneralhome.com/obituary
