Roger Schock M.D. Obituary
June 15, 1920 - September 22, 2016 Roger was born near the Moselle River in Grevenmacher, Luxembourg. After completing medical school in Europe he came to the United States on a Fulbright Fellowship grant. His wife Anty (Antoinette), his son John, and his brother Robert predeceased him in death. Throughout his entire life, Roger was a man who lived life on his own terms. An avid reader, he was open to the ideas of others. He genuinely appreciated diverse points of view. Professionally, as a forensic psychiatrist, Roger was unwavering in his commitment to build collaborations that facilitated the creation of innovative programs for treating and protecting individuals with mental health issues. Through these collaborations, Roger and his colleagues significantly impacted both the lives of patients needing access to treatment and the perception of mental illness. Personally, Roger loved to travel. The Baja coast, the beaches of Hawaii, Australia's Lizard Island and every other beach he set foot on were favorite destinations. He savored the time he spent in the ocean searching for shells and drinking a cold beer on the sand after snorkeling. He loved playing chess, conversing about the world, a fine glass of chardonnay served with oysters, being with family and friends and learning about the lives of others. His life was a life well lived. Merci Roger. Roger is survived by his daughters Kim Schock, M.D. (Mike Babb) and Eileen Schock (Laurie Usher), daughter-in-law Rosemary Schock, grandchildren Kaitlyn, Carter and Marin, niece Christiane Erpelding-Schock (Jeff), nephew Paul Schock-Fay (Margot), and many friends.
