Rose Kramer Obituary
Rose Kramer, born May 15, 1924, formerly Rosa Marmor, passed away May 13, 2017. Born in Borsa, Romania to an orthodox Jewish family of nine, she was the only member of her family to survive the Auschwitz concentration camp, which she did through her own escape. Her inspirational testimony of escape and survival can be viewed and listened to at the Spielberg/USC Shoah Foundation. After the war, she married Mayer Kramer, an American soldier who was delivering mail to survivors and their families in Germany. He pre-deceased Rose in 2009. Despite the horror and trauma of her early life, Rose was a highly-spirited, warm, and engaging personality. An avid card player, Rose loved to visit the coffee shops near her home in Burbank/Toluca Lake and made many friends across a wide range of ages. Because of her unique survival history, Rose was asked to share her experience with young people interested in learning about the Holocaust, which she did without hesitation. Rose is survived by her sons, Larry Kramer, of Burbank, CA and Stanley Kramer of New York City as well as her daughter-in-law, Vivian Bader, and granddaughter, Isabel Kramer, also of New York City. Funeral services will be held at Mt. Sinai Forest Lawn Cemetery (Hollywood Hills) on Sunday May 21st at 2:00 pm.
