January 3, 1913 - December 7, 2015 Rose May "Rosalie" Kaplan, nearly 103 years old, passed peacefully from this world on Monday, December 7, 2015. Born in Russia in 1913, she grew up in Winnipeg, Canada and immigrated to Los Angeles in the 1920's where she attended Roosevelt High School. She lived a graceful, dignified, long and happy life. She devoted herself to her husband, children and extended family, traveled the world and gave of her time and resources to many philanthropic causes-especially the City of Hope. Her name graces both the City of Hope's Helford Hospital and the newly completed Arthur and Rosalie Kaplan Family Pavilion. She was honored as Woman of the Year of the Ida Mayer Cummings Chapter at the Jewish Home for the Aging. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur H. Kaplan whom she married in 1937. She leaves behind her three children, who adored her beyond measure: Steven Kaplan, Michael Kaplan (Terri) and Bonnie (Ronnie Fein). She was the doting grandmother of Laurie (Peter Johnston), Dana (Paul Trenter), Darren Kaplan(Amy Cochran), Marisa (Steve Graines), Anthony Fein and Adam Kaplan and great-grandmother of Brett, Ryan and Eliana Gorham, Kayla and Jake Trenter and Sylvie, Georgia and Theodore Graines. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, both in Canada and the U.S. She was lovingly cared for by Franco Serra, Marilinda Punzalan and Lelu Pajarillaga. We are so grateful to them for making her last years full of comfort and joy. Funeral services will be held this Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 12 noon at Hillside Memorial Park. No flowers please, but charitable donations to the City of Hope or to the would be appreciated.
