Roy Willard Reeves Jr. Obituary
June 19, 1933 - December 11, 2017 Roy Willard Reeves, Jr. peacefully passed away at his Pasadena home on December 11, 2017, with his wife of 59 years, Elaine, at his side. Born June 19, 1933 at Pasadena Hospital (Huntington Memorial), Roy was the youngest child of Dorothy and Roy Willard Reeves, Sr. Roy grew up in Altadena, attended Cal Poly SLO and received a BS in Business/Agriculture. He proudly served three years in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. Upon his return from service, he fell in love with Elaine Stewart and they were married in San Luis Obispo in 1958. Roy then received his MBA from USC, where he became an ardent Trojan fan for life. His affiliation with USC created a network of life-long friends with whom vacations, weekend get-togethers and football tailgate parties would be greatly cherished by him and Elaine. Roy's character was defined by his tireless volunteering and dedication to many organizations in the Pasadena and Los Angeles communities. He served as Chief of Protocol for Track and Field at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, and was a Director and Committee Chairman of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses, where he spent nearly 54 years as a "white suiter". Roy was also an active community and alumni leader at USC. He had been a member of the USC Alumni Association Board of Governors, president of Cardinal and Gold, president of Commerce Associates as well as a member of Skull and Dagger. Roy spent over 50 years working in financial services; he was VP of Commodities for E.F. Hutton and spent the past 27 years as a Senior Wealth Advisor at Kayne Anderson Rudnick. An outdoor enthusiast, Roy enjoyed hunting, fly fishing, deep sea fishing, golf, snow skiing and water skiing. Roy is survived by his three children, Roy, Stewart (married to Christine), and Leslie (married to Phil Lindholm); his 5 grandchildren (William Reeves, Conrad Reeves, Benjamin Reeves, Henry Lindholm and Kelly Lindholm), and his older sister, Thelma Reeves Evans. Roy was a passionate man, full of humor, love, and devotion to his wife and family. We will forever miss his zest for life and his magnetic personality. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roy's memory to the Semper Fi Fund. The family will be hosting a celebration of Roy's life on January 6 in Pasadena; friends may email [email protected] or call (626) 797-0976 for more information.
