Sallie Morphy Colmery Obituary
March 6, 1931 - April 19, 2017 Sallie Morphy Colmery died after a long illness on April 19, 2017 in Montecito, California. Born on March 6, 1931, she lived most of her life in Pasadena and attended Westridge, Polytechnic, Ethel Walker Schools and Smith College. Sallie had a lifelong interest in art, education and her family, not necessarily in that order. Sallie, aka "Gladys" or "Security Sal," had friends of all ages. She was an enthusiastic wife, mother, aunt and grandparent to 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Sallie was predeceased by Harry W. Colmery Jr., her husband of 63 years. She is survived by her family, Sarah and Bob Preston, Hallie Preston Greene and Philip Greene, Henry, Annie and Sallie Greene, Claire and Robbie Preston, Scott and Jeanne Colmery, Harry, Freddy and Will Colmery, Kate and Adam Firestone, Nick and Samantha Firestone, Maddie and Tim Giebink, Matthew and Peter Firestone. Those lucky enough to have known her will remember her keen intelligence often seen on the backgammon board, her wonderful sense of humor and her love of mischief. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Westridge School in Pasadena. Celebration services will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, June 24 at All Saints-by-the-Sea in Montecito. The family would like to thank her wonderful and loving caregivers. Sallie loved color so please dress appropriately.
