Sally Schwartz Obituary
May 28, 1925 - June 15, 2017 Sally Schwartz lived a joyful and engaged life and was the very embodiment of the term "joie de vivre." She remained curious and enthusiastic about this world right up until she left it. She loved nothing more than to have a lively conversation with family and friends about topics ranging from politics to theatre to travel. She was able to share this love of stimulating conversations with others by helping to create the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of California, Irvine, a program that provides unique educational experiences for seasoned adults. She was also instrumental in helping to establish the Center for Holocaust Education at Chapman University, a distinctive and multi-faceted program. She loved to read, wrote a collection of memoirs, was a talented quilter, gardener, tennis player and world traveler. She made friends wherever she went and will be remembered for her ever-present sparkle. She will be greatly missed by her children Rob Schwartz (Jane), Jackie Fox (Dennis), and Leslie Furman (Geoff), her grandchildren for whom she was a fun-loving and deeply connected Nonnie: Joel, Rachel (Tom), Daniel, Anna, Kate (Paul), Bryn (Ben), Hayley (Joaquin), Mirra (Adrian), and Elana, and her great-grandchildren Jerome, Aviela, Miles, Wyatt, Samuel, Amelia and Arlo. She also leaves her loving companion of many years, Henry Nahoum. She was predeceased by her adored husband Jerry. Services were private. "It was a wonderful life."
