October 11, 1918 - March 25, 2016 Sara George died peacefully in her sleep, at home, in Burbank, California on March 25, 2016. She was 97. It was there that she met her husband, Mike, to whom she was married for 50 years until his passing in 1992. While her husband served overseas during the Second World War, Sara moved to Los Angeles, where she worked for Lockheed as a real-life "Rosie the Riveter." She and Mike remained in LA to raise their family. She was a kind, loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A woman of faith, Sara worshiped at St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral since its inception in the 1950s, where she was a longtime member of the Ladies Society. She is survived by her children, Donna, John and Marilyn; her brother, Jake; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A viewing will be held at St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral on Thursday, March 31, at 6:30 p.m., followed by a trisagion and funeral service at 7:00 p.m. A burial will be held at Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery on Friday, April 1, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral.
