July 7, 2016 Sarah (Sally) Sherman Hurt, 88, of San Marino CA, died July 7, 2016 in her sleep. Daughter of Roger Sherman and Marjorie Kent Treat Sherman, loving wife of William H. Hurt, she is survived by her husband Bill, her three children James (Eve-Lynne), Douglas (Bernadette Glenn) and Elizabeth Murray (Mike Bartee), her three step-daughters Kelley Purnell (Mark), Kathleen Constance "KC" Hurt, and Courtney MacMillan (Terry), and her 15 grandchildren and step-grandchildren. Also beloved and supporting her were Vivian Cunanan, Jane Hulick, Alfrida King, and Robbie Walters. Sally attended UC Berkeley and was a graduate of San Francisco State University with a dual BA in Anthropology and Urban Planning, 1969, and earned an MFA from Claremont Graduate University of Art, 1985. She worked as an artist for three decades with various group and solo shows. She served as President of the Pasadena Art Alliance for two terms as well as President of the Sycamores Child and Family Services. Sally was a child of the Enlightenment, her father Roger Sherman was a namesake and direct descendant of the Connecticut statesman who was the only person to sign all four great state papers of the U.S. She loved her family, her friends, traveling the world with Bill, her garden and kitchen, making and viewing art (with a critical eye), riding horses, music, theatre and conversation. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A family Memorial has already been held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Children's Hospital, Los Angeles.
