Seymour Beubis Obituary
Seymour Beubis passed away on Father's Day 2015. He was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Miami, Florida where his father owned and operated the Marlin Hotel. After serving in the armed services and receiving an honorable discharge, he attended the University of Miami receiving a BA in Journalism. He then worked as a freelance writer for some of the top magazines of the day. He spent the next 25 years at the Los Angeles Times as a reporter and editor covering high school, college and professional sports. He traveled with the Los Angeles Lakers during their run for the 1970 World Championship and covered diving for the Times during the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. After retiring from the Times, Seymour continued to follow sports, especially his beloved Miami Hurricanes. In his later years he cherished and appreciated the time he spent with his family. He is sorely missed by all those whose lives he touched with his kindness, generosity and sense of humor. Seymour is survived by his wife Lorilee, his son Michael, his daughter Jennifer, his daughter-in-law Amy, and his grandchildren Noah and Emma. Private services were held this past summer.
