Sharon Farrell Jurgensen Obituary
Sharon Farrell Jurgensen, longtime resident of Newport Beach, was born on May 12, 1944 and passed away peacefully at home on December 10, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was an inspiration to all of us during her entire life, and, especially this last year, she never let her optimistic, cheerful personality waver despite struggling with her declining health. Sharon was born in Fontana, CA, and grew up in Piedmont, CA. After graduating from Piedmont High School, she attended USC, where she affiliated with Pi Beta Phi sorority. She graduated from USC in 1966 and later earned her teaching credential from UCLA and eventually taught third grade. Sharon lived with her family in Brentwood, CA, for several years before moving South to Newport Beach. Over the years Sharon was involved in her community as both a member and leader, including the Junior League of OC, various PTAs and The Trojan League of OC. For the last 25 years, she owned her own bookkeeping/organizational services business, where Sharon found great joy helping many beloved clients throughout Orange County. Sharon was a self-starter filled with kindness. She was so graceful and always smiling. Sharon loved fresh flowers, the beach, and the color pink. She invariably made time for her family and friends, never forgetting to celebrate someone's special day and achievements. Spending time with her family and extensive circle of friends was Sharon's top priority in life. She cherished and loved her family and friends dearly. Sharon was predeceased by her parents Walter ("Sonny") and Una ("Mickey") Farrell and her sister, Patricia Farrell. She is survived by sisters, Christy Farrell Foster (Steven) and Janine Farrell McAuliffe (Stephen), daughter, Janine McGauley (John), son, Scott Jurgensen (Maggie) and four grandchildren (Riley, Caden, Isabella & Siena). There will be a Celebration of Sharon's Life on Friday, January 12, 2018, at 2:00 pm at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach and a reception immediately following at Harbor View Homes Phase 1 Clubhouse (1854 Port Westbourne Place, Newport Beach). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Sharon's name to Shane's Inspiration (www.shanesinspiration.org) or another .
