Sharon MacLachlan Ferreira Obituary
April 3, 1941 - January 23, 2016 Sharon MacLachlan Ferreira passed away on January 23, 2016 at her home in Arcadia surrounded by her immediate family. She was born in Cairo, Illinois on April 3, 1941. Sharon moved to Los Angeles, CA. attending UCLA and working for the University from 1964 after her education from Howard University. She worked for the School of Medicine, Department of Ambulatory and Community Medicine, Served on the Chancellors Committee on Equal Opportunity on Women and the Search Committee for Minority Faculty (Department of Chemistry UCLA) along with many other University Activities. Sharon was the recipient of 1977 Chancellor's Award for Public Service on June 3, 1977 while employed by the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. Also Sharon would attend Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael California receiving her guide dog named "Pukka" in 1977. Sharon attended Boalt Hall School of Law from 1978 to 1982. Sharon was married on February 1, 1982 to Roger Ferreira of Oakland, CA. Over the 34 years of marriage Sharon and Roger, had five (5) Guide Dogs; Jacques, Duke and Contessa. Sharon is survived by her husband Roger C. Ferreira and her Guide Dog "Goliath", her mother Velma V. DeShong, brother Michael DeShong, and Mrs. James Curran.
