Sid Moray Obituary
March 30, 1924 - July 31, 2016 Sid Moray died peacefully at home July 31st, nearly nineteen years to the day since he lost his beloved wife June Moray and with whom he is now rejoined. He never stopped missing her for a minute. Born in Brooklyn in 1924 he lived in NYC until he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1943. He served three years as a training pilot and flight engineer and after completing his service, moved himself and his parents to L.A. and opened a malt shop across from Fairfax High School. In those early days after the war, Sid, the handsome young bachelor and veteran, was often selected by the USO and studios to accompany such movie stars as Elizabeth Taylor and Gloria DeHaven to public events. In 1954, he married the love of his life, June Greenberg, and they produced four children within seven years. A busy and happy home life was the heart of Sid and June's life and together they created a loving legacy filled with many happy memories. Although Sid never attended college, he was a born entrepreneur and distinguished himself in many fields - retail, manufacturing, non-depository (SBA) banking and ultimately real estate and philanthropy. He loved his work and kept working till the day he died. Predeceased by his beloved June, and most recently by his cherished 22-year-old grandson Benjamin Moray, Sid is survived by his children David, Michael (Kathy), Robbie (Scott Dunn), Linda Gersh (Bob) and the grandchildren who brought so much joy to him: Jessica, Bill, Samantha, Max, Katie, Annie, Jolie and Henry. He also leaves his sister, Helen, and many nieces and nephews whom he adored. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 4 at 11am at Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Los Angeles Jewish Home (JHA.org).
