Slavica Pejic Obituary
January 13, 1936 - January 20, 2018 Slavica Pejic, born January 13, 1936 in Prnjavor, Bosnia-Hercegovina, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 20th, 2018 in Anaheim, California. She will be greatly missed by her four loving daughters: Anita (Neven Bobich), Silva Larsen, Louisa (Chris Larsen), and Elena Pejic. She is the beloved grandmother of three grandsons, Niko and Johnny Bobich (Jennifer Bobich), and Pavle Curic (Tammy Pollock); and four granddaughters, Natalya Bobich, Veronica, Allison and Janie Larsen. Slavica has one great-grandson, Joshua Bobich. She also has two surviving sisters: Marija (Marijola) Budeselic and Helena Elich. Slavica was preceded in death by her parents, Franjo and Natalija; four brothers, Ante, Emil, Miro, and Damir, and her beloved husband, Luka Pejic. Slavica was born in Bosnia-Hercegovina to Franjo and Natalija Mika. As a young girl Slavica enjoyed helping her parents on their large farm along with her six siblings. She finished middle school and became a very talented chef in her early years. She was a private chef for dignitaries in Sarajevo. When she met Luka Pejic, it was love at first sight and they were married three weeks later on April 11, 1956. Slavica lived in Sarajevo with her husband and two eldest daughters until they immigrated to the United States in April of 1965. Upon arrival to the United States, Slavica, Luka and their family lived in Temple City for many years and bought their first home on Rowland Avenue. They quickly grew their family by two more daughters who were born in the United States. Slavica enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her four daughters. She also joined in the ownership and operation of Luka's VW Repair Shop in El Monte, CA. Their Temple City home was a happy place where everyone was welcome. In 1976, the family moved to Anaheim where she lived and enjoyed the rest of her life. There she was a property manager who was much loved by all her tenants. Slavica was a very proud member of the Croatian Community at St. Anthony's Croatian Catholic Church in Los Angeles. One of her proudest achievements was in 1983, where the Croatian Cultural Committee of Los Angeles honored her as Croatian Woman of the Year. She received congratulatory awards from both the State of California and the Assembly California Legislature for her generous and dedicated voluntary service and contributions for the benefit of all the citizens of Los Angeles County. She enjoyed all activities and the many friends she and her husband had in her church community. In her later years, Slavica and Luka traveled back to Croatia every summer where they rekindled old friendships, met new friends and spent time with their brothers and sisters. Her life was full of singing, dancing, cooking epic meals for her family and friends, and most of all spending time with her family. A memorial service will be held in Slavica's honor on January 27, 2018 at 2:00p.m. at Mc Nerney's Mortuary Chapel, 570 W. 5th Street, San Pedro, CA 90731. Rev. Ivan Gerovac of Mary Star of the Sea Parish Church is officiating the service. Burial and another funeral will follow within one week in Police, Hercegovina, where she will rest in peace with her husband of 62 years. Please sign the guestbook at mcnerneysmortuary.com.
