He studied English literature, then received a PhD in Psychology from UCLA and was a professor at CSUN for 35 years. He was known as an outstanding teacher and published research in cognition. Stan loved music, reading, movies, nature, hiking, travel and so much else. Stan is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rita Chapman Summers; sister Joan Cole; nephew Mitchell Cole and his wife Carol and their daughter Rebecca; nephew Kenneth Cole and his wife Andrea and their son Ryan.
