1935 - 2017 Stephen "Esteban" Haworth passed away on Feb. 20, 2017 peacefully at home in Palm Desert. Born in Oakland, CA, and moved to Calexico, CA, as a toddler. '53 graduate of El Centro Union High. BS from UCLA in '58. Enlisted in the Army for a stint, worked for IBM and RAND Corp. on early computer programming. Law degree from USC in '65. Employed as a Deputy District Attorney for LA County and resigned with high recommendations. Entered private practice in Century City for decades. Proud 50-year member of CA State Bar, never one complaint. A man of high intellect. A devoted patron of the arts & education. 50-year member of the San Diego Opera and longtime supporter of the LA Philharmonic. Always on the lookout for a new car. A classic gentleman, fun loving, and a world traveler, taking family along and making new friends everywhere he went. From flying on DC3s and the Concord to the smallest sailboat and the Queen Mary II, he tried them all. Grateful recipient of heart and kidney transplant in '06. He will be missed by many lifelong friends. He is survived by his partner Gottfried Epp, sister Terry & Mark Riker, sons Soames and Chauncey & their families, Tracey, Terry, Jasmine, Aspen & Harlee. He wished all his friends would do something nice for somebody else in his memory.
